Donations Campaign for Rafah, World Bodies Condem

/noticias.info/ The Palestinian people throughout the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt) launched over the past couple of days a donations campaign for the traumatized Rafah City, as various world bodies voiced their sympathy with such a city in the shadow of continued Israeli state-sponsored terrorism on the city’s civilian population.

Citizens of Gaza and Ramallah along with other cities, towns, villages and refugee camps, were coincidently donating money, food, clothes and furniture for the distressed civilians of Rafah who have been displaced and scattered homeless in streets after Israeli military bulldozers demolished dozens of houses in the neighborhoods of Tal-Alsultan, Block "O" and Al Brazil, as Israeli soldiers still shoot at civilians in Tal-Alsultan.

Palestinian Deputy-Minister of Waqf and Religious Affairs, Yousef Salama, confirmed that the ministry, in cooperation with local relevant charitable societies, launched a ‘donation campaign’ across the oPt to assist thousands of citizens whose houses have been knocked down by Israeli troops in Rafah City.

At the Arab level, President of Tunisia, Zein Al-Abedin Bin Ali, reiterated the need for swift international intervention and protection of the Palestinian people out of the Israeli troops aggression.

At the world level, countries, human rights institutions and non-governmental organizations continued, over the past couple of days, to voice their condemnation, criticism and calls in light of the Israeli aggression on Rafah.

The Greek government condemned the Israeli aggression on Rafah, describing it as ‘unjustified military action’ that never contributed to peace building in the region. Greek political parties also denounced the Israeli ‘massacres’ in Rafah including the house demolition.

South Africa denounced the ‘criminal Israeli aggression’ against the Palestinian people, welcoming the United Nations Security Council resolution 1544, which calls Israel to stop its aggression on Rafah.

Tokyo, from its part, expressed ‘great shock’ over the killing of Palestinian civilians at the hands of the Israeli troops, calling on Israel to immediately halt all its attacks on the Rafah City.

Pakistan strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian population in Rafah, voicing deep concern over the latest Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip as well as the Israeli non-commitment to the Fourth Geneva Convention for protecting civilians.

The Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, denounced the ‘terrorist acts’ perpetrated by the Israeli occupying forces against the Palestinian people in the Rafah City, asserting that such events must not be forgiven.

Ukraine expressed deep concern over the ‘dangerous development’ of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, after the Israeli occupying forces had shelled densely-populated neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, leading to the death of large numbers of innocent civilians.

Mexico condemned the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, which have so far claimed the lives of innocent Palestinians, a Mexican Foreign Ministry’s statement said.

In the meantime, Arab societies and parties in Australia condemned the Israeli massacres against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, particularly the Rafah City.

In a joint press release issued in Sydney yesterday, all Arab organizations called on all peace lovers around the world to thwart any Israeli schemes against the Palestinian people and appealed to the Australian government to take a fair position towards the interests of the Palestinian people.

In Kuwait, local human rights organizations denounced the aggressive Israeli practices, including the massacres against the Palestinian people in Rafah, calling on the international community to move effectively to save Palestinian children and women from the Israeli war machine.

Meanwhile, ‘Doctors Without Frontiers’ organization called on Israel to stop shooting on civilians in Rafah City and end its large-scale houses demolition campaign.
