DNC'S Campaign to Save the Court Hosts House Parties

Sen. Hillary Clinton and Kate Michelman To Address Voters Around the Country

/noticias.info/ Washington, DC – On Monday, October 4, the Supreme Court begins a new term. Tomorrow the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) Campaign to Save the Court will host hundreds of house parties nationwide focusing on the threat posed to the Supreme Court by a second Bush administration. The Parties will feature a conference call from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Kate Michelman, Chair of the Save the Court campaign.

"This is the most important election in our lifetime," said Michelman. "If Bush is re-elected he could have the opportunity to appoint as many as three new justices who could take away the rights and freedoms that we have worked so hard to obtain. These parties are just one step in our campaign to educate and mobilize voters around this crucial issue."

House Party participants will view a video, produced by the DNC and narrated by Kathleen Turner, emphasizing the importance of the Court on November's ballot and the multiple rights at stake if Bush is re-elected; the video will also be available on-line.

On Monday, the Campaign to Save the Court will hold a press conference on the steps of the Supreme Court featuring leading activists to coincide with the start of the Supreme Court's new term.

Michelman continued, "As the Supreme Court returns to session, the Save the Court campaign will send a message to the White House that Americans are paying attention to who's sitting on the nation's highest court."
