Agassi Defeats Björkman

Andre Agassi booked his ticket in the quarterfinals after a convincing victory against Jonas Björkman.

/noticias.info/ The star from Las Vegas seems to have continued the nice form from Madrid. In the fourth meeting between the two, Agassi never gave Björkman any real chance to get into the match. Agassi was very consistent from the baseline dictating the points in his trademark style.

After 70 minutes, Agassi was able to call it a day’s work after 6-3, 6-4.

- I’ve got to be happy about the way I handled Jonas out there today, Agassi said at the press conference.

In the next round, Agassi faces Fernando Verdasco, a young rising Spaniard who had just turned four years old when Agassi won his first title in Itaparica 1987.

- You have to be at your best every day, you can’t think about tomorrow. What’s required every day is different, you have to be better than one player, the American diplomatically said on the question whether the game he displayed today would be enough to win him his 60th career title.
