EARTHQUAKE: Germans Content With Tsunami Reaction
/noticias.info/ (Angus Reid - CPOD Global Scan) – Many adults in Germany are pleased with the performance of their chancellor and foreign minister in the aftermath of the deadly tsunamis in Asia, according to a poll by Infratest-Dimap. 85 per cent of respondents are satisfied with the way Gerhard Schroeder and Joschka Fischer reacted to the crisis.
On Dec. 26, large areas of Asia and parts of Africa were ravaged by the worst earthquake and tsunamis to hit the regions in four decades. More than 150,000 people have died, including at least 60 German citizens.
On Jan. 4, Schroeder committed $686 million U.S. in aid to the afflicted countries, making Germany the biggest donor to date. Three German cities—Hamburg, Bremen and Luebeck—will also participate in reconstruction efforts.
