Codey Unknown For Many In New Jersey
/noticias.info/ (Angus Reid - CPOD Global Scan) – Interim governor Richard J. Codey has not become a household name in New Jersey, according to Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind poll. While 48 per cent of respondents have a favourable opinion of Codey, 44 per cent were unsure.
Last August, elected governor James McGreevey—a Democrat—announced his resignation after declaring himself "a gay American" and acknowledging a consensual affair with a man. Senate president Codey took over as New Jersey’s acting governor on Nov. 16.
Codey will remain on the position until January 2006. A new gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 2005. 25 per cent of respondents believe Codey has done enough to deserve a fresh term, while 32 per cent would choose another person to head the state’s government.
