Germany’s SPD Leads In North Rhine-Westphalia
/noticias.info/ (Angus Reid - CPOD Global Scan) – The Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Green Party (Grune) could retain control of the government in North Rhine-Westphalia, according to a poll by Infratest-Dimap. 50 per cent of respondents would support either the SPD or Grune in the upcoming parliament election on the German state.
The Christian-Democratic Union (CDU) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) have a combined support of 45 per cent, while five per cent of respondents would support other parties. The election is scheduled for May 22.
If voters could directly elect the state’s head of government, 39 per cent would support current premier Peer Steinbrueck of the SPD, while 25 per cent would back CDU leader Juergen Ruettgers.
