/noticias.info/ Friday, 21 January, 2005
Russian 18-year-old Evgenia Linetskaya, playing just her second Grand Slam tournament, has advanced to the fourth-round of Australian Open 2005 with a straight-sets win over No.21 seed Amy Frazier.
Frazier, a quarter-finalist in 1992, is making her 17th Australian Open appearance and playing in her 64th Grand Slam.
Linetskaya, currently ranked No.93 in the world, reached the second-round of last year's US Open in her only previous Grand Slam. She was not even one year old when Frazier played her first Grand Slam, the 1987 US Open.
In the first two rounds, Linetskaya beat Slovakians Lubomira Kurhajcova and Martina Sucha, conceding just seven games, before accounting for Frazier 6-3 6-4 to win through to a fourth-round clash with No.2 seed Amelia Mauresmo.
