/noticias.info/ KHAN YOUNIS, Palestine, February12, 2005 (IPC+ Agencies)-Scores of armed Israeli settlers attacked on Friday evening a number of Palestinian civilians at the Almatahen military checkpoint, north of the Khan Younis City, south of the Gaza Strip.
Witnesses told the IPC correspondent that tens of armed Israeli settlers from the Gush Qatif illegal settlement, which is built on Palestinian-owned lands in Khan Younis, threw stones and empty bottles on Palestinians, passing through the checkpoint under heavy rains.
Raising their guns at the Palestinain vehicle's drivers, a number of the armed settlers attempted to force the Palestinian travelers out of the vehicles, while others blocked the road back to northern Gaza Strip for some time in the presence of the Israeli occupation troops, the witnesses said.
The Almatahen checkpoint along with the notorious Abu Holi checkpoint, are the main linkages between southern and northern parts of the Gaza Strip.
In another development, an Israeli military court sentenced to four-years prison service and NIS5000-fine ($1100) to female Palestinian resident, Eman Ahmad Al-Akhras, from the West Bank refugee camp of Aldehaisha, after being jailed over the past couple of years under alleged Israeli accusations, local sources said.
Israeli occupation authorities still hold 128 Palestinian female prisoners in various jails, prisons and concentration camps, Palestinain prisoners ministry's latest statistical figures demonstrated.
