EVERTON: ALAN IRVINE'S DIARY - DAY FIVE
/noticias.info/ Welcome to my final instalment from Austria.
It's been a terrific week and we finish it off tonight with our first friendly fixture of the summer.
I must admit that we don't know a great deal about FC Gamlitz but I do know that they will make us extremely welcome and will give us a decent run-out.
We decided to give the players an afternoon off yesterday and I can tell you that it was very well received!
As I said yesterday, it's important to get the balance right with regard to training and rest and the boys will have really appreciated the spare time we gave them.
The manager and I went to watch a football tournament involving some local teams and we enjoyed it.
Most of the players rested by the hotel pool or took the opportunity to have a sauna, whilst some of them went straight back to their rooms for a sleep!
Our final training session this morning was a light one.
We just did a bit of stretching and some football work and we are all looking forward to getting some action tonight.
As we depart from our hotel base, Shalke 04 are moving in.
The German side are also using this place as a base for their pre-season training and they will also play a friendly against one of the local sides.
Fulham are over here in Austria just now and I know that some other clubs from around Europe will be here in the next fortnight.
As for ourselves, we have worked hard this week, we've really moved forward as regards preparation for the new season and we leave Austria this evening after the match. notas_de_prensa_archivo
