MLB: New "This is Twins Territory" ads launched

Television ads to debut next week - radio ads currently running; New television spots feature Torii Hunter and Joe Mauer

/noticias.info/ MINNEAPOLIS - ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Twins, in conjunction with Periscope, today announced plans to launch a pair of new television commercials Monday (February 27) featuring centerfielder Torii Hunter and catcher Joe Mauer.

The advertisements are the latest installments in the team's highly popular and award-winning "This is Twins Territory" campaign introduced prior to the 2005 season. Periscope is a Minneapolis-based marketing agency providing advertising, interactive, public relations, design and graphic services to clients nationwide.

The new ads are intended to be humorous and fun while conveying the excitement of attending a Twins game. They also create a sense of Upper Midwest pride for Twins baseball.

Entitled "Gamer," the first new "This is Twins Territory" television ad features centerfielder Torii Hunter dropping in on a young fan's birthday party and taking part in several group games.

The second spot, entitled "Souvenir", portrays a young Twins fan in an encounter with catcher Joe Mauer after a game. The ad is a spin-off of the classic "Mean" Joe Greene soft drink commercial from the 1970s.

Future ads in the Twins' 2006 television campaign include a spot featuring Twins manager Ron Gardenhire as well as one including Twins mascot T.C. Both the Gardenhire and T.C. ads will be released in the coming weeks.

"The 'This is Twins Territory' campaign was lauded by fans throughout the Upper Midwest last season," said Twins Vice President of Marketing Patrick Klinger. "We believe this next generation of spots is even better and will continue to foster the already strong bond that exists between our players and fans. When fans feel like they have a relationship with the team, they're more likely to come out to the ballpark."

Tickets to all Twins home games, including the home opener on Tuesday, April 11 versus the Oakland Athletics (7:10 p.m.), are available online at www.twinsbaseball.com or by calling (612) 33-TWINS or (800) 33-TWINS.
