PREVIOUS HOME OPENERS VS. TWINS: Prior to this season, the Cleveland Indians have hosted the Minnesota Twins a total of four times in home openers. Most recently, the Twins were defeated by the Indians, 6-3, on Monday, April 12, 2004. Hafner and Lawton's home runs were the last dingers hit by a Tribesman in the home opener. Before that, the Twins suffered a 9-5 loss to the Tribe on Monday, April 8, 2002. Ryan Drese was the starter and winner in a game that saw the only Tribe homer, a grand slam, hit by Travis Fryman. The May 5, 1995 opener against Minnesota was the rescheduled home opener of the strike-shortened season. Charles Nagy got the win and Jose Mesa the save in a 5-1 Tribe victory. The only loss to the Twins in a Tribe home opener came on April 14, 1964 - a 7-6 loss to Jim Perry, who had been traded from the Indians to the Twins the previous year.
