PSV: Ronald Koeman: "Wonderful to be back"

Koeman had been linked with PSV in several media reports for some time, but now the news has been confirmed by all parties concerned. He showed his skills as a PSV player from 1986-1989. When Guus Hiddink was in charge of PSV, Koeman won a great many trophies, including the European Cup I in 1988. He was to win the prestigious trophy with FC Barcelona in 1992 as well. So now, many years later, Koeman will succeed Hiddink, who will take charge of the Russia national team after the World Cup 2006. Hiddink was PSV head coach the past four seasons and has gained worldwide fame.

Ronald Koeman, who put pen to paper on a two-year deal with PSV, will be officially presented in the Eindhoven Philips Stadium later this week. Koeman has been assistant of the Dutch national team and assistant at FC Barcelona and head coach of Vitesse, Ajax and Benfica. He reached the UEFA Champions League quarter finals with Benfica the past season and he guided the Portuguese side to the third place in the domestic league. He has been in charge in Lisbon for one season. Koeman speaks his languages, which may come in handy, as there has been a Latin culture at PSV for many years.
List of victories
He won the double, both as a PSV player in 1988 and 1989) and as Ajax coach in 2002. As a professional football player Koeman had spells with FC Groningen, Ajax, PSV, FC Barcelona and Feyenoord. Snowflake ended his career as a player in1997. He won eight titles (four in Holland and four in Spain); he won four Cups (three in his own country and one in the service of FC Barcelona) and he was capped 78 times for his country and scored 14 goals. He was a player of the Dutch team that won the European title in 1988.
