NHL: WILD: Training Camp Blogs: Irmen and Schultz Day Three

/noticias.info/ Danny Irmen and Nick Schultz

Yesterday after practice, I was tuned into the end of the Vikings game against the Carolina Panthers. It was pretty intense, especially when (Jake) Delhomme fumbled but they overturned the call and called it incomplete. But the Vikings marched down anyway and won. It’s nice to see the Vikes at 2-0 and racking up the wins.

After that, I left the rink and went back to the hotel, where of course I watched some Sunday Night Football with Al Michaels, and relaxed and went to bed about 11 PM.

I recently found out that I’m going to be playing in the preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night and that’s very exciting. I’ll be playing with Stephane Veilleux and Wyatt Smith.

I’ve never been one to look at who I’m playing with. I just have to go out there and play my same game and try to make my linemates better.

I don’t really have a ritual I get into the day before a game, but I guess I have a pattern of doing the same thing. I’ll try to get a good meal the night before, then get a good skate the next day with some breakfast. I usually take a nap before the game and get ready to go.Nick Schultz

On Sunday, we had an open practice for the fans to come inside the Xcel Energy Center to watch us skate around. It was exciting and it was nice to reward our fans because we hear about all the people that waited for so long to get tickets and the organization wanted to the reward them. There was two sessions of practice on Sunday, so the fans got a little more to watch, so it was fun to have them out there. It seems like they are just as excited as we are.

Half of the lower bowl was filled up and that’s pretty neat, especially for the new guys that are coming here and they see how important the fans are here. That’s why we sell out every game.

I was in the first session on Sunday, so after we got done, I had some time to head over to the Metrodome with Brent Burns to catch the fourth quarter of the Vikings game. We had some sideline passes we got from one of Tony DaCosta’s friends. We got right down to the end zone where the Vikings scored on a fake field goal, and got the winning field goal.

After the game, we got shown around the trailers where they do all of the behind-the-scenes stuff.

It was a fun day for me because I’m a pretty big football fan. Growing up in Canada, my family had season tickets for eight years for the team in Regina. I wasn’t a huge NFL fan growing up, but once I came to Minnesota and got to go to some games, I’ve gotten pretty into it. I’ve got my Fantasy Football team rollin’ now and I love watching it. I cleaned up in Fantasy this week after losing last week, so I’m 1-1.

After that, I went home and ate some sushi and then shut her down. notas_de_prensa_archivo
