Football Europe: Tskhadadze takes over at Dinamo
/noticias.info/ Former Georgia captain and current national Under-21 coach Kakhaber Tskhadadze has been put in charge of FC Dinamo Tbilisi until the end of the season. Tskhadadze, 36, succeeds Georgi Geguchadze who was sacked after a poor run of form, although the club still lie second in the Georgian Premier League, a point behind FC Tbilisi. Tskhadadze enjoyed an illustrious playing career as a defender in Russia and Germany, and also represented the USSR, then the CIS, at the 1992 UEFA European Championship.
Israeli international Eyal Berkovic has signed a one-year-deal with Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC a month after announcing the end of his nine-year-long European career. Berkovic, 32, who was turned down by his boyhood side and the only team he played for in Israel, Maccabi Haifa FC. The 33-year-old is to leave Portsmouth FC in the summer and part of his deal requires that his new club invite 1,000 children from underprivileged areas for each home match.
Talented 21-year-old midfielder Milos Dimitrijevic has signed a first professional contract with FC Nantes Atlantique after spending six years in the French club's academy. The Serbo-Montenegrin player, who has penned a three-year deal, made his debut in a League Cup tie last November and has since made eight more first-team appearances. He was part of the Nantes side that won the French Youth Cup in 2002.
The Scottish Premier League's bottom club, Dundee United FC, have announced a €1.7m reduction in losses in the financial year to June 2004. The Tannadice outfit also reported an increase of nearly €1.2 in turnover as part of a three-year plan. "Despite widely acknowledged ongoing financial pressures affecting Scottish football, we have met our first-year targets," said chairman Eddie Thompson. "While I am pleased to report such progress, there is clearly much more to be done if we are to return the club to profitability."
