Football Europe: Atlético target final chance

Away worry
The 23-year-old winger spent two seasons in Pamplona on loan but is focused on helping Atlético reach their 18th final. "I gained a lot from being at El Sadar," he said. "They gave me the chance to emerge as a player in the Primera División. But now I am back at Atlético and we have to win at all costs, especially bearing in mind that our away form has not been that impressive of late."

Cruchaga out
The capital club, ninth in the league, have lost three of their last four matches away from the Vicente Calderón while their opponents have not lost at home since the 5 March defeat against FC Barcelona. Osasuna centre-half César Cruchaga misses the game through injury while a clause in the contract of midfield player Juan Ortiz impedes him from playing against his former club.

Braulio chance
Marcelo Sosa could start in midfield for Atlético in place of Gonzalo Colsa, while improving young striker Braulio Nóbrega, who scored four goals for the reserves at the weekend, has earned his place in the squad.

Shades of 1977
The first leg of the second semi-final is on Thursday in Seville where Athletic Club Bilbao, on course to equal Barcelona's record of 24 Spanish Cup triumphs, take on Real Betis Balompié in a repeat of the 1977 final won by the Andalucian side after a riveting penalty shoot-out that went to 20 spot-kicks. The sides have met twice in the league this season, Betis winning 2-1 in Seville before a pulsating 4-4 draw in Bilbao.

Anxious wait
Left-back Ander Murillo and centre-half Luis Prieto are Athletic coach Ernesto Valverde's main doubts ahead of the first leg while visiting coach Llorenç Serra Ferrer is deliberating whether to field Melli or Fernando Varela at right-back.
