Spirit Airlines Third Airbus A319, “Spirit of the Caribbean” Takes Off

/noticias.info/ DETROIT, Mich. (May 27, 2005) - Spirit Airlines today proudly launched its third Airbus A319 aircraft out of Detroit Metropolitan Airport to Atlantic City International Airport. This aircraft will also fly to and from Tampa and then back to Detroit this evening.

In a private ceremony yesterday, the airplane was named "Spirit of the Caribbean."

"We are delighted to introduce our third A319, "Spirit of the Caribbean." The arrival of this aircraft further underscores our commitment to be the leading low cost carrier in the Caribbean," said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer of Spirit Airlines. "Last week, we announced our two newest Caribbean destinations, Montego Bay and Kingston, Jamaica. These markets are already booking well for the late fall as customers are responding to our low fares. With ten routes to the Caribbean already in our network, the A319 aircraft will give us even more Caribbean growth opportunity in the months and years to come."

Spirit will lease the aircraft from ILFC, International Lease Finance Corporation. With today’s announcement, Spirit’s fleet consists of four Airbus A321s, 23 MD-80s, and three Airbus A319. Spirit will deliver seven more A319s and two more A321s by the end of the year and has another 23 aircraft on order with options for 50 more. Spirit is committed to becoming an all Airbus fleet by early-2007.
