Football Europe: Forlán and Henry share top spot
/noticias.info/ Uruguayan international Diego Forlán had double cause for celebration yesterday.
Award set to be shared
The 26-year-old's two goals for Villarreal CF against Levante UD secured his club a UEFA Champions League qualifying place and sent the former Manchester United FC striker into joint first position in the ESM Golden Shoe table with holder Thierry Henry. Both forwards have 25 league goals and 50 points each, and with all the major leagues now finished are unlikely to be caught, meaning Henry would be the first player to win the award two years running since it was relaunched in 1996/97, having never been shared subsequent to that date.
Tekke on target
Turkish international Fatih Tekke also finished the season on a high. He scored in Trabzonspor's 5-0 Superleague rout of Istanbulspor AS to take his tally to 31 and ensure second place for his club and a berth in the 2005/06 Champions League.
Lucarelli third
Cristiano Lucarelli's 24th goal of the campaign leaves him third in the table as he registered in AS Livorno Calcio's 1-1 draw with FC Messina Peloro. Meanwhile, Brazilian Ronaldo found the net in Spain as Real Madrid CF beat Real Zaragoza 3-1 away from home.
