FIFA World Cup: Piturca adds finishing touches
/noticias.info/ Romania have gathered for their FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Netherlands and Armenia with several changes to the squad named before last week's friendly against Moldova.
Squad changes
Victor Piturca's side won that game 2-0 but second goalscorer Nicolae Dica, along with Danut Coman, Vasile Maftei, Ionut Mazilu, Cosmin Pascovici and Razvan Cocis have stepped down from that largely domestic-based squad to make way for several overseas players, including Adrian Mutu, returning after a drugs suspension. Of the original list of 15 foreign-based squad members, Cosmin Barcauan, Adrian Iencsi and Florin Cernat have been left out, Adrian Ilie and Constantin Galca are injured while Ciprian Marica has joined the Under-21s.
Rat suspended
Currently third in Group 1, Romania visit Rotterdam to play the section leaders on Saturday before welcoming Armenia to Constanta next Wednesday. Left-back Razvan Rat is banned for the Netherlands game, so Pompiliu Stoica is called up after a five-year absence. Goalkeeper Martin Tudor is the only uncapped player.
