Football Europe: Lorant leads Turkish appoinments
/noticias.info/ Preparations for the 2005/06 Turkish Superleague continue apace with three coaching appointments.
Lorant joins Sivasspor
Second division champions Sivasspor have turned to experienced German Werner Lorant on a one-year deal with a 12-month option. The 56-year-old previously coached in Turkey with Fenerbahçe SK. A UEFA Cup winner as a player with Eintracht Frankfurt, he has also been in charge of TSV 1860 München, 2. Bundesliga LR Ahlen, Korea's Incheon United and APOEL FC of Cyprus. Sivasspor's first choice, Rasit Çetiner, said he wanted time off after resigning as Turkey Under-21 coach.
Diyarbakirspor appointment
Diyarbakirspor, who narrowly avoided relegation this season, have reappointed former coach Hüseyin Kalpar on a two-year contract. The 50-year-old was at the helm from 2001-03 and latterly worked in the second division with Kocaelispor and Bursaspor. Saying he intended to complete all transfer activity in June, he added: "I am really glad to see that the new board pay special attention to the youth set-up and better facilities."
Yildirim return
Finally Samsunspor, who also finished in the bottom half, have named Saban Yildirim as replacement for Ertugrul Saglam. The one-time Sakaryaspor boss, who has agreed a one-year deal, said: "I feel happy to be in charge of Samsunspor who have a good reputation in Turkish football."
