UEFA European U-19 C'ship: Llorente to the fore for Spain

/noticias.info/ Athletic Club Bilbao striker Llorente scored four goals as Spain stormed to the top of FIFA World Youth Championship Group C with a 7-0 win against Chile in the Netherlands. Turkey were also among the European sides to fare well, defeating Panama 1-0, but Germany were held by the United States and Ukraine lost against ten-man China.

Ukraine defeated
In Group B, a 19th-minute goal from FC Dynamo Kyiv striker Dmytro Vorobey gave Ukraine the lead against China in Utrecht but a Ting Zhu strike on 31 minutes and Tao Chen's penalty midway through the second half swung the initiative away from the European side. Zhu's foul in the area three minutes later earned him a red card and Vorobei's Dynamo team-mate Oleksandr Aliyev duly restored parity from the spot. However, Ukraine could not capitalise on their numeric advantage and it was Peng Cui's strike 15 minutes from time that settled it.

Turkish triumph
Turkey, who lost their opening game against China on Saturday, picked up their first points of the campaign by defeating Panama 1-0 on the same pitch later in the evening. Gaziantepspor forward Gokhan Gulec's solitary strike midway through the first half settled the game, bringing his team level with Ukraine on three points. The two European sides meet in what could be a decisive game in Doetinchem on Friday.

Llorente heroics
Meanwhile Spain are certain of their place in the last 16 after defeating ten-man Chile 7-0 in Doetinchem. Llorente took just seven minutes to open the scoring and once Chilean Gonzalo Jara had been dismissed shortly before half-time, the result was never in doubt. A 51st-minute strike from RCD Espanyol's Robuste was followed by two strikes by SD Éibar's David Silva and a second-half hat-trick by Llorente. The Spanish complete their group matches on Friday, when they face Honduras, who lost 5-0 against Morocco earlier in the day.

German resilience
Despite missing Hamburger SV midfield player Oliver Hampel, who suffered a double fracture of his right leg in Saturday's 2-0 win against Egypt, Germany held the United States to a goalless draw in Enschede to take up a favourable position alongside their opponents at the top of Group D. In the pool's other game, Argentina dedeated Egypt 2-0, meaning a draw against the Argentinians in Emmen on Saturday will assure Germany of a place in the Round of 16. notas_de_prensa_archivo
