Football Europe: McNamara heads south to Wolves
/noticias.info/ Celtic FC captain Jackie McNamara has completed a free-transfer move to English second division side Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. The 31-year-old Scottish international has signed a two-year contract with Glenn Hoddle's team, ending a ten-year association with Celtic, where he made 347 appearances and won four Premier League titles as well as three Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup winner's medals. His last match in the green and white was last month's 1-0 Scottish Cup final victory over Dundee United FC.
While one player joins English football's second tier, another departs it. Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis has switched to Premiership newcomers Sunderland AFC from Ipswich Town FC for €1.9m. The 28-year-old arrives on a four-year contract after two seasons with Ipswich, and becomes manager Mick McCarthy's second signing in 24 hours after Jonathan Stead's addition from Blackburn Rovers FC.
Portsmouth FC have signed French winger Laurent Robert on a three-year contract from Newcastle United FC after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old joined Newcastle for €14.2m midway through the 2001/02 season, and scored 22 goals in 129 English Premiership appearances for the club over the next three-and-a-half years.
North of the border, Heart of Midlothian FC have agreed a one-year contract extension with midfield player Joseph Hamill. The 21-year-old made 43 appearances and scored three goals for the Tynecastle outfit last season.
Bundesliga side 1. FC Nürnberg have completed the loan signing of Argentinian defender Horacio Javier Pinola from Spain's Club Atlético de Madrid. Nürnberg have the option to keep the 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan in his home country with Racing Club de Avellaneda, for a further year should he impress.
Staying in Germany, Czech left-winger David Kobylík has transferred from SK Sigma Olomouc to DSC Arminia Bielefeld for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old joins on a three-year contract and replaces South African international Delron Buckley who agreed to move to BV Borussia Dortmund in April.
Dutch second division champions Heracles Almelo have signed midfielder Jan Wuytens on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven. The 20-year-old Belgian youth international has agreed a two-year contract with the newly promoted team. notas_de_prensa_archivo
