WIMBLEDON: Quick Finish for Grosjean
/noticias.info/ Wednesday, June 22, 2005
Ninth seed Sebastien Grosjean was on No.1 Court for only eight minutes today to complete victory over his French Davis Cup team mate Michael Llodra. He now reaches the second round where he will play Victor Hanescu of Romania.
Grosjean has been a semi-finalist at Wimbledon for the past two Championships but with Llodra gaining a lead of two sets to one, there were times last night when he began to look under threat. After Grosjean pulled back a set, the match was left precariously at two sets apiece and 4-3 to Llodra in the the final set when bad light stopped play.
Today Grosjean gave Llodra next to no chance of taking command. He held his opening serve to love. He then won the first three points against Llodra'a serve and although the left handed Llodra saved two of them Grosjean took the break by forcing a volley error with a strong service return.
Grosjean held serve easily to win by 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in a total of three hours and 37 minutes. Overall he served 13 aces and played an excellent tie break and final set.
