LIVERPOOL FC: PARRY DELIGHTED WITH TNS TIE
/noticias.info/ Liverpool Chief Executive Rick Parry has welcomed the draw for the first round of the Champions League qualifying round which saw the Reds paired the Reds with Welsh side TNS.
Parry said it is the draw both Liverpool and TNS wanted and feels it will be a great occasion.
Parry said: "We are pleased, mainly because it's not too far to travel and it couldn't be better in that respect and it's a tie with a bit of romance. It will capture the imagination.
"We didn't want to be travelling to the far reaches of Europe or the borders of Asia, so it really couldn't have been closer for us and logistically it's fine.
"We spoke to officials from TNS before the draw and we both agreed it would suit us quite nicely so we have ended up quite lucky with this one.
"I'm sure that will be up for discussion but that's their decision and we will respect whatever they decide. We will know fairly shortly I hope."
Should Liverpool progress through to the second round of Champions League qualifiers they would then face either HB Torshavn from the Faroe Islands or Lithuanian champions FBK Kaunas in the second qualifying round over two legs.
Parry said: "Again logistically it could be worse. We will be doing our homework trying to find out more about the teams and at the moment they are unknown quantities to us I have to say.
"The main thing at this stage is looking at the travel plans and the impact of the journey so it could be better, it could be worse.
"I haven't spoken to Rafa yet but he will react as he always does, professionally and he will be doing his homework straight away and we will be talking right away about when we travel, how we travel and what the impact is on pre-season training. That is probably the most critical factor for us at the moment." notas_de_prensa_archivo
