LIVERPOOL FC: SPOTLIGHT ON WHO WE COULD MEET IN 2ND ROUND

/noticias.info/ Providing Liverpool overcome the challenge of Welsh minnows Total Network Solutions in the first round of the Champions League qualifier the Reds will meet either HB Torshavn or FBK Kaunas, and here's a little more about them.
HB Torshavn

HB Torshavn from the Faroe Islands would be an interesting team to play against in the second round as half of their team would be autograph hunters as they are Liverpool fans.

They were the first team to qualify for the Champions League as they lost just one game en route to winning a Faroe Islands league and cup double.

HB Torshavn play at the 5,000 capacity Gundadalur Stadium and their pitch is made of artificial grass and sand because real grass just won't grow in what is a harsh Atlantic climate.

Their star striker is Jakup a Borg who has won 37 caps for the Faroe Islands but has only scored twice.

FBK Kaunas

The team from Lithuania won a sixth successive league title when the Lithuanian league ended in November 2004. They achieved the honour by beating Ekranas in a final day of the season title decider.

FBK Kaunas play at their home ground of Gireno which has a capacity of 8,500.

Striker Andrius Velicka is their star attraction and midfielder Saulius Mikoliunas had a loan spell in Scotland with Hearts last season.

Meeting Liverpool in the second qualifying round of the Champions League would be a dream for FBK Kaunas as they are not the biggest club in their country's second city. The biggest club are Zalgris.

However, before Liverpool can even contemplate taking on one of the above two teams they have to get past Welsh side TNS and as captain Steven Gerrard said on Saturday, the Reds will give them total respect. notas_de_prensa_archivo
