CHELSEA FC: Season starts Wigan away, ends Newcastle away

/noticias.info/ Chelsea start the 2005/6 season at Wigan Athletic, and then the first home game is Arsenal. The Premier League season ends against the same two clubs as 2004/5, Manchester United at home and then Newcastle away.

The last time Chelsea played Wigan away it was an FA Cup replay in 1985 when Kerry Dixon scored four in a 5-0 victory.

The FA Cup sixth round is a midweek date so that England and all Premier League players selected can prepare for the World Cup. Bolton away, where the Premier League was won in 2004/5, is again a late season fixture.

Domestic midweek Cup dates are given as Wednesdays, European ones as Tuesdays except the Final which is a Wednesday.
