ARSENAL: Quincy on target as Holland advance

/noticias.info/ Arsenal.com's International Watch reports back to base on those who have temporarily swapped the red and white of Arsenal for the colours of their national sides.

Read on for the latest news from the FIFA World Youth Championships in Holland...

HOLLAND UNDER-20

Holland 2-1 Japan, June 10
Holland 3-0 Australia, June 15
Holland 1-0 Benin, June 18
Holland 3-0 Chile, June 22

Quincy was on the scoresheet for Holland as they eased past Chile to reach the Quarter-Finals of the World Youth Championships. The Dutch ran out 3-0 winners and now face Nigeria in the last eight. Ryan Babel struck for the hosts in the third minute and the Dutch dominated for the rest of the half without punishing Chile further. Quincy always looked lively and went close on several occasions before finally getting the goal he deserved in the 73rd minute. He received a square ball from Babel before cutting inside and curling a low shot inside the far post. Quincy was replaced by Collins John four minutes later, and the substitute wrapped up the victory with a goal 10 minutes from time.

SPAIN UNDER-20

Spain 3-1 Morocco, June 11
Spain 7-0 Chile, June 14
Spain 3-0 Honduras, June 17
Spain 3-0 Turkey, June 22

Cesc Fabregas played the first 63 minutes as Spain cruised to a 3-0 win over Turkey to set up a Quarter-Final tie with Argentina at the World Youth Championships. The Arsenal midfielder looked lively going forward and carved out Spain’s first real chance of the game after seven minutes. Spain always looked the better side but didn't open the scoring until the 28th minute through Real Madrid's Juanfran. Turkey subsequently went to pieces and the Spanish winger struck again seven minutes later. Spain rounded things off with a headed goal from defender Robuste after 69 minutes. Spain’s Quarter-Final opponents Argentina beat South American rivals Colombia 2-1 to book their place in the last eight.

SWITZERLAND UNDER-20

Switzerland 2-1 Korea, June 12
Switzerland 0-1 Brazil, June 15
Switzerland 0-3 Nigeria, June 18

Philippe Senderos and Johan Djourou will both be coming home after Switzerland were knocked out of the FIFA World Youth Championships after a 3-0 defeat to Nigeria. Senderos was named captain and partnered Djourou in defence again, but could not prevent the Super Eagles from claiming victory. The game was goalless at half time but the Swiss nearly took the lead through Djourou, who just failed to connect with Reto Ziegler’s free kick shortly after the break. Moments later Chinedu Ogbuke gave Nigeria the lead and they never looked back. Switzerland finished bottom of Group F. notas_de_prensa_archivo
