UEFA Cup: Espanyol job for Jofre

/noticias.info/ Spanish UEFA Cup contenders RCD Espanyol have reached an agreement to sign Levante UD midfielder Jofre González on a four-year deal.

Contractual clause
The 25-year-old left-winger will leave relegated Levante, where he spent the last three seasons, on a free transfer due to a clause in his contract stipulating he could move in the event of the club's demotion.

Heartbreaking end
Jofre began his career at FC Barcelona's youth academy and joined Levante in 2002. The team were promoted to the top flight in 2003/04 and last term Jofre made 27 appearances, scoring twice, before Levante were relegated back to the Segunda División on the last day of the season.

Wednesday medical
The player will undergo a medical at Espanyol's headquarters on Wednesday before being unveiled to the press. Jofre is the Catalan club's second summer recruit following the recent arrival of Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Costa. notas_de_prensa_archivo
