The Bentley/Sayer family has requested that the Foreign Office issue the following statement on their behalf:

"Alan Bentley (49), Mandy Bentley (43) and Mandy's son David Sayer (16) were on holiday in Sharm El Sheikh at the time of the explosions. Sadly, we have not heard from them since.

"We appreciate the support and assistance we have received and the response of the Egyptian emergency services and all of those who are helping in the resort at this time.

"We are devastated by what has happened and are praying for the safe return of our loved ones. Our hearts are with the other families that are suffering as we are.
