Business Travelers Choose Delta as Most Preferred Airline in Business Travel Survey

Safety record, on-time flights and friendly service highlighted

/noticias.info/ ATLANTA, Aug. 4, 2005 – Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) has been named as the most preferred airline for business travelers by the YPB&R/Yankelovich Partners 2005 National Business Travel Monitor, and more than 50 percent of survey participants mentioned Delta as one of their “preferred three airlines” when traveling for business. The YPB&R/Yankelovich Partners 2005 National Business Travel Monitor is a national survey of the travel habits, preferences and intentions of 1,200 active business travelers in the United States.
Based on recent survey results, business travelers seek airlines that provide the best basic travel service and amenities. Specifically, 92 percent of business travelers mention "excellent safety record," and "regularly departs on time" as key purchase drivers. Another 91 percent mention "friendly and efficient service" and 88 percent cite "ample leg room" as important airline qualities.
“We’re proud to receive this recognition from our customers as we continue to transform Delta,” said Paul Matsen, Delta’s chief marketing officer. “These findings confirm we are moving in the right direction, and we will continue to provide customers with a comfortable, affordable and simple travel experience.”
Ken Bernhardt, professor of marketing and department chair at Georgia State University, reinforced this sentiment. “The survey results show that Delta’s efforts seem to be working, and their occupancy and load factors also reflect this, " he said. “It makes sense that business travelers want the basics such as on-time flights, added leg room and a comfortable experience. They notice the level of service they get, and it has an impact on where they purchase tickets.”
The YPB&R/Yankelovich Partners National Business Travel Monitor is in its 10th year.
Delta Air Lines is the world’s second-largest airline in terms of passengers carried and the leading U.S. carrier across the Atlantic, offering daily flights to 484 destinations in 87 countries on Delta, Song, Delta Shuttle, the Delta Connection carriers and its worldwide partners.
