MALAYSIA AIRLINES ALL GEARED UP FOR ‘FLIGHT OF DISCOVERY’

/noticias.info/ Malaysia Airlines’ Flight of Discovery, specially arranged for 300 children from all the states in Malaysia, is ready for take-off this Sunday, 7 August 2005.

These privileged children, are winners of the Flight of Discovery contest organised by the national airline, in conjunction with its 58th anniversary of flight operations, where students had to just submit a drawing or an essay (50-100 words) on how they see Malaysia Airlines in the year 2020.

Malaysia Airlines hosts these 300 children on a 3-day programme at its home base from 5 August 2005, commencing with a familiarization of its engineering complex at KLIA, visits to tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, as well as motivational and aviation career development talks by its pilots, cabin crew and engineers.

On the final day of the hospitality, the privileged children will depart KLIA for Kota Kinabalu on the Flight of Discovery aboard Malaysia Airlines’ Boeing 747-400 aircraft where they get to enjoy the ‘new experience’ in-flight hospitality by the airline’s four-time award winning “World’s Best Cabin Crew”.

In announcing details of the Flight of Discovery programme today, Encik Yazid Mohamed, Malaysia Airlines’ Assistant General Manager (Advertising, Promotions, Branding) said, “This project is yet another corporate social responsibility activity of the national airline that also complements the government’s ongoing efforts towards national integration”.

“The engagement with the children of Malaysia, in conjunction with our 58th anniversary, is timely as they are the next generation of leaders who will steer both Malaysia Airlines and the nation towards continued prosperity,” he added.

Encik Yazid later presented air tickets to some winners from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor who won their passage on the Flight of Discovery.

The national airline took to the skies on 2nd April 1947, commencing air services between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore using an Airspeed Consul plane. From a fledging air service between the two cities, the airline has evolved into an award winning world-class carrier, recognised as one of Asia’s largest, flying more than 40,000 passengers to over 110 destinations across 6 continents daily. notas_de_prensa_archivo
