ARSENAL:Rejuvenated Reyes finds his feet
/noticias.info/ He's overcoming the language barrier. He's even got used to the weather. Now Jose Antonio Reyes hopes his increasing happiness off the pitch will enhance his performances on it.
The Spaniard endured mixed fortunes last season. Speculation over his future didn't help but Reyes showed his commitment to Arsenal by signing a new contract last month. The son of Seville has settled in England.
"I never thought about leaving the Club but it's true that when I first came to England I found it hard," admitted Reyes.
"It was many things but mainly it was the language and the weather. Initially I did miss Seville a lot but I have been here a year and a half now and things are much better.
"It's true that if you are unsettled it affects your game but thankfully now I'm more settled and hopefully that will show on the pitch."
Reyes returns to Cardiff on Sunday for the Community Shield clash with Chelsea. The Blues have flexed their financial muscles in the transfer market this summer but Reyes believes Arsenal can match their London rivals.
"It's clear that it's not just about spending money," he said. "Madrid spent a lot last year for example but they did not win anything. When you go on to the pitch you don't think about how much money a club has, you just see an adversary and try to win.
"The only way to improve is to work hard, do things well in training and listen to the manager. If we all do that then we can get better. If you don't have a winning mentality, there is no point in playing." notas_de_prensa_archivo
