Rebrov recalled by Ukraine
/noticias.info/ FC Dynamo Kyiv striker Serhiy Rebrov and FC Chornomorets Odesa defender Vladislav Vaschuk have returned to the Ukraine national team after long absences.
Blokhin plans
Coach Oleh Blokhin has named 24 players ahead of the third annual Valeriy Lobanovskiy Memorial tournament later this month. The tournament commemorating the legendary Dynamo, Ukraine and USSR coach will be held in Kiev. Israel, Poland and Serbia and Montenegro will participate along with hosts Ukraine.
Rebrov return
The 31-year-old Rebrov returns after a year-long break, while Vaschuk, 30, has not featured since 2003. Dynamo's teenage stars Olexander Aliyev and Artem Milevskyy, who made an impact at the FIFA Youth World Championships, have both been left out. "Aliyev and Milevskyy indeed impressed in the Netherlands, but they do not show enough stability," Blokhin said.
World Cup goal
Ukraine need three more points to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. Ukraine sit seven points ahead of Turkey and eight ahead of European champions Greece in qualifying Group 2. Ukraine play Georgia on 3 September.
