Wigan snap up Camara
/noticias.info/ Wigan Athletic FC have signed the Senegal international striker Henri Camara from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in a €4.3m deal. Camara spent last season on loan at Celtic FC and Southampton FC, and the Wigan manager Paul Jewell will hope the 28-year-old can contribute goals in the newly promoted club's bid to compete in the English Premiership. "It's great news for us," Jewell said. "He's a proven scorer and has produced the goods at the highest level."
R. Standard de Liège have signed the 26-year-old goalkeeper Olivier Renard from Udinese Calcio. The Belgian arrives on a one-year loan deal, with Standard having the option to sign him on a permanent basis when the year is up. Renard has previously played at R. Charleroi SC, and is likely to provide back-up for Vedran Runje. Standard have also announced that Croatian attacking midfielder Milan Rapajic has requested to return to Croatia, despite having another year to run on his contract.
Former Russia coach Anatoli Byshovets has taken charge of FC Tom Tomsk. He replaces Boris Stukalov who stepped down from the helm of the Russian Premier League strugglers at the end of last month. Byshovets' biggest success as coach came when he led the Soviet Union to gold in the 1988 Olympic Games. He has worked with a number of different club sides both in Russia and abroad, notably FC Zenit St. Petersburg and FC Shakhtar Donetsk. He became coach of Russia in 1998, only to be dismissed after his side lost the first six matches in his charge. Byshovets was introduced as coach of Tom following their 1-0 defeat by Zenit on Saturday. The club have won just four times all season and sit fourth from bottom with 19 points from 19 games.
