Perfect PSG set the pace
/noticias.info/ Edouard Cissé scored the only goal of the game as Paris Saint-Germain FC recorded a narrow win away to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard tonight to maintain their perfect start to the Ligue 1 season. The capital club are joined at the top of the table by FC Girondins de Bordeaux, who also have six points from two games after defeating AS Nancy-Lorraine by the same scoreline.
Cissé strike
Cissé scored PSG's winner on 51 minutes, linking with Pedro Pauleta to ensure Laurent Fournier's side continue their early-season momentum. PSG did not have it all their own way, however, and goalkeeper Lionel Letizi had to make several saves before victory was secured.
Buoyant Bordeaux
Bordeaux found the target in just the fourth minute at the Chaban-Delmas Stadium, and Moroccan Marouane Chamakh's strike was enough for victory. While Nancy proved brave opponents, they struggled without injured striker Elie Kroupi. The newly promoted Lorraine side are joint bottom with no points, along with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard and Olympique de Marseille.
Disappointing Marseille
Marseille lost 2-0 away to RC Lens and clearly missed Franck Ribéry, who was suffering from illness, and the suspended Mamadou Niang. Seydou Keita followed up Jérôme Leroy's missed penalty to score on 37 minutes, before Vitorino Hilton sealed victory with half an hour to play. Both teams now turn their attention to their Intertoto Cup final ties in the coming week.
Evra off
The other European contenders this week, AS Monaco, lost 2-0 to AJ Auxerre and saw French international Patrice Evra dismissed. Philippe Violeau scored on 26 minutes before substitute Luigi Pieroni doubled the lead 13 minutes from time. They now face a testing trip to Real Betis Balompié in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.
Thrilling Lille
Auxerre moved to fourth behind OGC Nice, defeating Toulouse FC 2-0, while AC Ajaccio drew 3-3 with LOSC Lille Métropole. The Champions League hopefuls had to come from behind three times, through Jean Makoun, Daniel Gygax and Mathieu Debuchy, before finally earning a point. FC Metz against Le Mans UC 72 and ES Troyes AC's match with AS Saint-Etienne both ended goalless.
Essien doubt
Champions League contenders and French champions Olympique Lyonnais are at home to RC Strasbourg on Sunday. Midfielder Michael Essien has been left out of the squad as speculation about his future continues. On Sunday night, FC Nantes Atlantique face Stade Rennais FC in the western France derby.
