EVERTON : KILLER: NEVILLE SIGNING'S A COUP

/noticias.info/ Kevin Kilbane regards Everton's signing of Phil Neville from Manchester United as a major coup for the club.

The Republic of Ireland international has faced Neville many times, both in the Premiership and on the international stage.

And he believes the club have secured the services of one of English football's most experienced and successful players.

Kilbane, who has skippered the Blues twice during pre-season, told evertonfc.com: "He is a big boost for us.

"He has won a hell of a lot of trophies at Manchester United and he has played a big part in their success.

"When I have played against him it is clear he works very hard but he has also got a lot of ability and will get his foot on the ball for us.

"He has played his entire career at Manchester United and that means he has an unbelievable level of experience of the Premier League, Europe and international football."

Phil Neville
Phil Neville talks to the press after being unveiled as Everton's latest summer signing.

With the Toffees about to embark on their first European campaign in a decade, Neville's wealth of experience in the Champions League for United will prove invaluable.

Kilbane continues: "The fact we have signed a player with such a depth of experience in the Champions League tells you everything about where the club wants to go.

"I think it is a big coup for us to get Phil because he is a very good player and he is still only 28. He has a lot of years left in the game and he will help us a lot.

"He has always been a fit lad and if he continues to maintain that fitness and shows the form he showed at Manchester United he will prove to be a very big signing for us."

Neville has been signed from United for an undisclosed fee and is eligible to make his debut for the Blues in next week's Champions League third round qualifier against Villarreal at Goodison.

If he plays it will be his 79th appearance in European competition.
