EVERTON : VAUGHAN'S CONTRACT TALKS
/noticias.info/ Everton have opened talks with teenage striker James Vaughan over a professional contract.
The striker is now eligible to sign professional terms after turning 17 last month.
His agent, Gino Culbertson, has revealed talks are going well and he is confident an agreement with the Blues will be reached soon.
Culbertson said: "James is eligible to sign his first professional contract so we are looking for something quite substantial as well.
"The talks have already begun and will continue next week. We are in the early stages but hopefully there will be pens put to paper soon.
"James is a quality player who is at a quality club and he has got faith in Everton.
"He knows he has got a long way still to go in his career and a lot of hard work in front of him but he wants to stay at Everton."
Vaughan burst on to the scene last season, netting the fourth of Everton's goals in the 4-0 Premiership win over Crystal Palace at Goodison, setting a host of new club and Premiership records.
In that game he became the youngest player to score in the Premiership and the youngest player to both play for and score in a senior Everton side, beating Joe Royle's playing record and Wayne Rooney's scoring record.
Since that dream start, Vaughan has made a series of further appearances as a substitute and has been a regular in the club's senior ranks during the pre-season preparations.
