UEFA Champions League: Dudek faces lengthy lay-off
/noticias.info/ Liverpool FC goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks after suffering a fracture-dislocation of his elbow during training.
Title defence
"Jerzy saw a specialist and he will be out of action for three months," a club spokesman said. Should the Polish international be out until November, he would miss much of Liverpool's UEFA Champions League defence should they overcome PFC CSKA Sofia to reach the group stage.
Reina reign
The impact on the Premiership outfit is not as great as it could have been, however, following this summer's arrival of José Manuel Reina from Villarreal CF. The injury also rules the 32-year-old out of Poland's crucial remaining 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers games against Austria and Wales in September, before meeting Group 6 leaders England on 12 October.
Traore out
Meanwhile, Liverpool endured more bad news today when defender Djimi Traore sidelined until September with a thigh strain. The Malian international suffered the injury during a friendly against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in July. notas_de_prensa_archivo
