FORMULA 1 - RENAULT: RDD Drivers camp it up in Biarritz
/noticias.info/ Heikki Kovalainen, Jose Maria Lopez, Loïc Duval, Lucas DiGrassi and Pastor Maldonado have begun their third RDD camp of the year.
A three day excursion based in Biarritz in the South West of France, will see the RDD drivers taking part in a number of activities.
Three times a year, the RDD programme organises a training camp for the entire group. Away from the HPC (Human Performance Centre), the entire RDD team meets up for a week of intensive sporting activity. On the menu are cycling, running, tennis, squash, swimming, climbing and, this week in Biarritz, even surfing… In an association with the world famous Quicksilver surf-wear brand, the RDD pilots will spend the next three days on the beach, cycling, karting, training and surfing the huge waves currently rolling in on France’s South Western coast.
Building team spirit is an important priority. The training camps bond the drivers together while sharpening their competitive instincts. A healthy rivalry reigns between them, which pushes them to excel themselves and increases their desire to win. The RDD drivers enjoy spending time together – making training fun is an important part of maintaining their motivation and desire to succeed.
Heikki Kovalainen, leader of the GP2 series championship, agrees : “This will be my third RDD camp this year, and I’m really looking forward to it.”, he says, “The training regime we are under at the RDD is very strict on a day-to-day basis, so it’s always fun to get away from the gym and out into the open. The camps are seriously hard work, but they’re always fun, too. We all get along very well and it is great that Renault gives us the opportunity to learn new skills and enjoy new sports, whilst at the same time keeping us mentally and physically fit to be able to complete our seasons at the top of our game.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
