Football Europe: Nafti forced out for Birmingham

Loan spell
The 26-year-old, a summer signing from Real Racing Club Santander in Spain after a successful loan at the English club last season, tore a cruciate ligament in his knee in Sunday’s friendly against RC Deportivo La Coruña. A scan today confirmed the extent of the injury, with the club claiming he would be missing for “several months”.

New season
The former Toulouse FC player, who represented his country at last month's FIFA Confederations Cup, had signed a three-year contract in June and was expected to form a part of Birmingham’s midfield for the coming campaign, alongside fellow new signing Nicky Butt.
