COMPUTER ASSOCIATES LAUNCHES WORLDWIDE INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER PARTNER PROGRAM
CA’s eTrust Security Software Available to More Than 10 Million ISP Customers
/noticias.info/ ISLANDIA, N.Y., August 11, 2005 – Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) today announced the launch of its Worldwide Internet Service Provider (ISP) Partner Program, providing its eTrust security software to ISPs around the globe. Operating in North America since 2003, the program is being rolled out worldwide as a result of the increasing needs of the ISP marketplace to provide PC users with effective security tools, as well as increased customer demand resulting from the program's proven success. CA's eTrust security software is used by many of the largest ISPs and is currently available to more than 10 million ISP subscribers in the United States.
“ISPs are adding security to their access offerings not only to differentiate their services but also because subscriber expectations have shifted, making security a necessity,” said Danielle Levitas, vice president, Consumer and Broadband Markets, IDC.
CA developed its ISP Partner Program in response to the growing demand of consumers needing security protection through their ISP. The program also helps ISPs realize operational efficiencies and cost savings, while delivering world-class security software to combat online threats such as viruses, spyware, spam, phishing, hackers, and identity theft.
“Security isn't just a value-add for ISPs anymore, it's a necessary and expected service,” said Adam Famularo, vice president of Global OEM Sales for CA. “For the past year, we have been working with some of the largest ISPs in the U.S. to develop security solutions that fit their specific needs. As a result of increased demand and proven successes, we are now able to deliver this established and successful program to ISPs around the world. We expect our program to grow at an exponential rate.”
Time Warner Cable's Road Runner service provides customers with free downloads of CA's antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware and anti-spam security software. “Time Warner Cable has been a pioneer in providing security solutions to our customers,” said Steven Cook, vice president, Product Management. “We recognize that it is an investment in the safety of our customers, as well as the Internet community at large.”
Cablevision's Optimum Online was one of the first high-speed Internet providers to recognize the importance of Internet safety and security, and has been offering CA's security software to its customers since March 2002. Since late last year, antivirus, firewall and parental control software from CA has been available to all Optimum Online customers at no additional charge. “Internet security has always been a primary focus for Optimum Online, which is why we were one of the first Internet service providers to make online security tools easily accessible to our customers,” said Patricia Gottesman, Cablevision's executive vice president of consumer product management and marketing. “Providing our customers with a safe and secure online experience allows us to remain a trusted technology advisor and helps make using the Internet effortless and enjoyable.”
CA offers customized licensing options for ISPs on its full portfolio of eTrust security products, including eTrust Antivirus, eTrust PestPatrol Anti-Spyware, eTrust Anti-Spam and eTrust Personal Firewall, which are backed by CA's global research teams that identify and nullify the latest online threats.
