EVERTON: ROONEY’S RETURN, PART 3

/noticias.info/ In a quirk of fate so typical of the first day of a new season, Wayne Rooney will be back at Everton tomorrow…and he’s looking forward to it.

The 19-year old striker will be trotting out at Goodison Park for the third time since his move to Manchester United twelve months ago.

His first return was greeted with widespread abuse from the home fans during the FA Cup tie, which subsided when United came back for a league clash and he gave this reaction to tomorrow’s fixture.

“I am delighted to be going back to Goodison on the opening day,” he said. “We all know what a big game it is because we need to get off to a good start.

“Hopefully we will get the win we are looking for and we can carry that form on throughout the season.”

Rooney and his striking partner, Ruud van Nistelrooy, have been amongst the goals during the pre-season campaign and the experienced Dutchman is predicting a prosperous season for the United front-line, with the undoubted quality of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“The combination between myself, Wayne and Cristiano is working well,” claimed van Nistelrooy.

“We had the opportunity to work really hard on it in pre-season and we have developed a good link.

“Hopefully we can keep going with that, which will allow us to get even better.”

van Nistelrooy is happy that the forward-line future of Manchester United is in the best possible hands with the former Everton youngster and Ronaldo destined for even greater things.

“In a few years, those two will be dominating world football,” he said. “They have such incredible quality. They are ahead of anyone in their world in their age group.

“They can just get better and stronger every year. It is a fantastic feeling to play with great players and that is what they are.”

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson looked ahead to the Goodison clash on Saturday and offered a forthright, if somewhat bizarre, quote!

“You know what it’s going to be like - straw hats and trumpets. They’ll get stuck into us. We just hope there’s a strong referee and we’ll be alright.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
