AC MILAN: BETTER THAN HOPED
/noticias.info/ MILANELLO - When Marek was injured, Milan had their minds on other things. The league title race was wide open and the Champions League final against Liverpool in Istanbul was just around the corner. The Czech international was not yet officially a Milan player when he picked up the ankle injury in Udinese-Roma. However, after the move became official, the rehabilitation following the operation came down to the staff at Milanello as Jankulovski got off the crutches and on to the training pitch to start his road to recovery.
The hard work put in over the last three months have definitely paid dividends, with the left-sided player scoring on his debut, in the 7-0 win at Lugano. Jankulovski said: 'At the start I was a bit worried about my injury then I saw things were going well and I knew that I was better than it was hoped. Of course, I am pleased as last night was my first real game after my operation, it went well.’
Speaking about the game, he added: 'I expected a difficult debut. It’s great to play with these top players and it was great to score. What’s my preferred role? I would say wide on the left of midfield. I can be the fourth or fifth left-sided midfielder but I can also play at the back if the coach wants. We’ll see how it goes. Now all I have to think about is getting used to playing alongside my new team-mates and become part of this new Milan.'
On the three-man defence, Jankulovski said: 'When you are on the pitch this system becomes important in terms of how the midfield functions, above all, the wide midfielders. These are the two players who have to attack and defend, they balance the side, with their movement and workload. What about me on the right? The coach has said this and if he decided on it then I will accept that role.' notas_de_prensa_archivo
