EVERTON FC: MOYES: BAD RESULT BUT GOOD SIGNS
/noticias.info/ Despite his bitter disappointment at losing the opening game of the season to Manchester United, Everton boss David Moyes believes he has seen enough from his side in the opening two games to convince him his side is gelling together as he wants it to.
The Goodison boss has stated his desire to improve on last season's remarkable campaign in which Everton finished fourth in the league.
He has added Simon Davies, Phil Neville and Per Kroldrup to his ranks along with the addition on a permanent basis of Mikel Arteta.
And he believes the signs are there that Everton could make further progress this term - provided they eradicate the kind of sloppy mistakes which gifted Manchester United their second goal on Saturday.
He said: "It is hard against good teams to recover from two down but overall the performance was fine. I can't fault the players.
"We probably made more chances today than we did when we beat them here 1-0 a few months ago. The players did everything asked of them and made it difficult for them.
"They are a good team and we weren't that far off them for long spells in the game."
The Blues were undone by goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney either side of half-time.
Moyes believes the outcome could have been very different had his side done better in front of goal.
Tim Cahill was twice denied by excellent saves from Edwin Van der Sar, while Marcus Bent grazed the crossbar with a first-half effort after coming on in place of the injured James Beattie midway through the opening half. notas_de_prensa_archivo
