EVERTON FC: EVERTON'S RAM RAID
/noticias.info/ Everton’s Under-18 side produced their best performance of the summer to finish their pre-season campaign on a high, beating Derby 3-0 away from home on Saturday.
Neil Dewsnip’s boys had the majority of the possession and the play throughout the 90 minutes and were full value for their comfortable win.
The Blues broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Johann Davidsen rose highest from a corner kick to head the ball past the Rams’ keeper.
Everton led 1-0 after the break, but 10 minutes after the re-start they doubled their advantage when Scott Phelan stroked home a penalty.
A wonderful ball from Davidsen found John-Paul Kissock, who was felled in the box, leaving the referee no option but to award a spot kick.
The third was the pick of the goals; Lee Molyneux curled a free kick over the wall, the ball cannoned off the underside of the bar and into the net.
Everton had further chances to extend their lead but James Dunn, Bjarni Thor Vidarsson and Phelan had no luck in from in front of goal.
The young Toffees entertain Reading on the opening day of the FA Premier League Academy season, which begins on Saturday 20 August.
DEWSNIP’S VERDICT:
I am pleased with the result and the performance. We passed the ball very well and controlled the game. They rarely threatened our goal. So far our pre-season has been a little up and down, but this has made sure that we have finished it on a high. I feel confident that we are in good shape for next Saturday’s game with Reading, even if we have a lot more work to do. notas_de_prensa_archivo
