SUZUKI: CARMICHAEL DOUBLE AT MILLVILLE

/noticias.info/ Team Makita Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael raced his RM-Z450 to two runaway race victories at Sunday’s AMA Motocross Championship round at Spring Creek Motocross Park in Millville, Minnesota to increase his series lead to 89 points with three rounds to go.

The reigning THQ World and AMA Supercross Champion took victory in the opening 30-minute race by 24 seconds and the second by 12 seconds over runner-up Kevin Windham.

Carmichael has now won 16 of the 18 race legs so far and could possibly clinch the title at next weekend’s Binghampton race.

Windham briefly led the first lap of the second moto before Carmichael got ahead going into the sandy whoop section.

The battle for third overall was the most interesting race of the day between Team Honda riders Travis Preston and Ernesto Fonseca. Preston turned in a superb first moto, passing Matthew Goerke late in the race to finish third behind Carmichael and Windham, while Nick Wey and Fonseca rounded out the top six.
In moto two, Fonseca and Team Yamaha's David Vuillemin battled over the third-place position while Preston worked his way up from a 14th-place start.

Late in the race, Vuillemin passed Fonseca for third while Preston moved up into sixth. Had the moto ended that way, Preston would have finished third overall with Fonseca fourth overall. However, Fonseca and Vuillemin collided on the final lap with Vuillemin going down and giving Fonseca third for the moto and third overall.
