Full house on Malév’s flights
Number of passengers increased in July
/noticias.info/ Several Malév’s flights operated with full house or with a very good load factor in the middle of summer. The average load factor increased over 80 % and compared to last year’s same period the number of passengers of the Hungarian national carrier went up by more than 13 % in July. The successful summer month is due to Malév’s new destinations launched in spring and at the beginning of summer.
Malév closed a successful month in July. Number of passengers carried by the national carrier went up by 13,2 % compared to July 2004. The biggest increase – more than 24% – could be noticed at flights to the Mediterranean region, which is followed by the Eastern European region with an increase of 19%.
In July 2005, Malév had a load factor of 80.4% in average which exceeds the load factor of the competitors. The load factor went up in the Eastern European region the best (by 7,7 %). In July the most popular Malév’s flights operating almost with full house were: Varna, Burgas, Pristina, Helsinki, Tel Aviv, New York, Toronto and Malaga launched in June.
Due to quality ground handling service, excellent timetable, good prices and new destinations launched in spring and summer, Malév could increase the number of passengers, in spite of the strong competition.
Success of new destinations
In the summer of 2005 Malév has launched 9 new scheduled flights to different European destinations, due to the increased business (Cork, Oslo, Gothenburg) and leisure demand (Burgas, Malaga), based on thorough market research. As a new concept national air carrier operates direct flights of the so called 7th freedom within EU, for example from 2nd of July flights between Dublin and Athens, Helsinki and Athens, Stuttgart and Balaton (Fly Balaton).
As network expansion, Malév has decided to prolong its most popular new destinations, Malaga, and Burgas till the end of summer timetable – until 29th of October. Malév operates longer than planned between Stuttgart and Balaton as well, mainly because of the opportunities of wellness tourism.

According to the summer timetable Malév operates 470 flights weekly and 60-70 daily in average. The national airline flies to 55 cities of 35 countries, taking code-share flights into consideration it goes up to 77 cities of 44 countries.
Malév flies with the biggest frequency to Amsterdam, which has 28 flights a week, and to London, which has 28 flights a week. The summer timetable has always frequency expansion regarding the long haul destinations: New York operates 7times a week, Toronto 5times a week and the Budapest-Peking flight operated by Hainan airlines 3times a week. notas_de_prensa_archivo
