Jet Airways employees undertake adventure motorcycle expidition to the highest motorable road in the world

/noticias.info/ On the occasion of India’s 59th Independence Day and in celebration of the United Nations ‘International Sports Year - 2005’, Jet Adventure, an in-house initiative of Jet Airways (India) Ltd., organised a HIGH ALTITUDE MOTORCYCLE EXPEDITION from Mumbai to Ladakh in Northern India.

The event, commenced at 9 am on August 15, 2005, where Mr. Peter Luethi, Chief Operating Officer, Jet Airways flagged off the motorcyclists at the starting point of this expedition – near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Domestic Terminal 1B), Mumbai.

The route marked out for this expedition is as follows: - MUMBAI - DELHI - LEH - KHARDUNGLA PASS - (The highest motorable road in the world at a height of 18380 Ft.), LADAKH and KARGIL.

The 14 participants from various departments of Jet Airways, with a passion for adventure sports, took off on their motorbikes, eager to take on the challenge of high endurance and sheer determination. This expedition while putting to test physical and mental abilities, ensures good team building.

From Mumbai, the participants plan to reach Delhi around the 19th August, 2005.Then on to Manali for a day’s rest for the purpose of acclimatisation before embarking on one of the toughest terrain around 26th August to the LEH-LADAKH-KHARDUNGLA PASS and KARGIL.
The participants will be back in Delhi around the 5th September, 2005, to return to Mumbai thereafter.
