Continental Airlines Announces 'Volando Al Futuro/Flying Toward the Future' Upward Bound Ticket Recipients
High School Students Receive Airline Tickets to Visit College Campuses
/noticias.info/ HOUSTON, Aug. 18 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) has announced the names of six college-bound students from Houston, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and San Antonio who will receive airline tickets to visit college campuses through a partnership with Upward Bound programs called "Volando al Futuro/Flying Toward the Future." Continental provides the tickets to help Hispanic Upward Bound participants and their families explore opportunities for attending college away from home.
"I grew up in a place that showed me what happens to people without an education and I have no desire to follow that path. Fortunately, I had a family that encouraged me to excel in my classes," said Priscilla Elizondo, 18, a 2005 graduate of Roosevelt High School in East Los Angeles and a participant in the LINC TELACU Upward Bound program in Los Angeles. Elizondo will use the tickets to travel to Cornell University, where she plans to major in animal biology. "I'm very happy because now my mother will be able to see Cornell and she will be more comfortable with the idea of my going away to school."
