UEFA Champions League: Babangida wins over Olympiacos

/noticias.info/ Olympiacos CFP have signed Nigeria striker Haruna Babangida on a free transfer from FC Metalurh Donetsk in Ukraine.

Impressive form
The 22-year-old has agreed a three-year contract in the Greek capital. Babangida earned his move after impressing for Olympiacos in a pre-season tournament in Spain. He scored three goals altogether in a 3-1 win against Valencia CF and 4-2 defeat by Udinese Calcio.

'Star players'
"I am very happy to sign for Olympiacos," said Babangida. "They are a great team with star players like Rivaldo. They participate each year in the UEFA Champions League and I am looking forward to playing in Europe's top competition. I believe Olympiacos's passing game suits me to perfection."

European eligibility
Babangida did not play for Metalurh in their 3-0 victory at FC Sopron in the first leg of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie on 11 August and can therefore represent Olympiacos in the Champions League.
