LIVERPOOL FC: HOBBS SIGNS ANFIELD CONTRACT
/noticias.info/ Jack Hobbs has celebrated his birthday in style by signing a professional contract with Liverpool FC.
Hobbs agreed to join the Reds earlier this month but has had to wait until yesterday - his seventeenth birthday - before officially putting pen to paper on his deal.
The young central defender made his debut for the Reds in reserve team action against Everton during the week and is now looking forward to the prospect of more action over the rest of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpoolfc.tv, Hobbs said: "What a 17th birthday it is for me to sign for Liverpool, and it goes without saying that I will never forget this one! I am absolutely delighted to be at Liverpool, this is a dream come true for me.
"If someone had told me a year ago I would be a Liverpool player now I wouldn't have believed them. This is unbelievable. I'm still pinching myself and it's a real opportunity for me.
"I only made my debut last season for Lincoln's first team against Bristol Rovers and although it was only for three minutes I really enjoyed it."
Hobbs is training at Melwood with the reserve team squad but last week he got the chance to play against the first team squad in a training match.
"Just to be on the same pitch as the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher was amazing. They are two players I really look up to, especially Carragher as he is a defender. You just pick up things playing with and against class players and it was a good experience for me. It was just unreal and it still hasn't sunk in the fact that one day I'm watching the European champions on Sky Sports News and now I'm training with them at Melwood!
"Everyone has been friendly. Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have been great with me. The manager Rafael Benitez has been really nice as well. He's said 'Welcome to Liverpool, good luck and all the best'."
Hobbs enjoyed his debut for the reserves in Monday's 3-2 defeat to Everton at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, where he played in a deep lying midfield role.
Hobbs said: "It was my first competitive game for Liverpool. I have to say I was a bit nervous at the start but it was good to get the first game under my belt. I would say centre half is my best position but I played in midfield for the reserves against Everton. It was a good experience to play in a new position and I will play anywhere for the team.
"What I want to do is settle in, give good performances and keep on progressing and get some consistency into my game. I just want to do my best for this club.
"I have always wanted to be a footballer from a very young age. I used to watch my dad play in the amateur leagues and he is a big inspiration to me." notas_de_prensa_archivo
